Girls Touch Bring Home Silver!

December 18, 2018 at 9:09 AM

Our Girls’ Touch Team have done it again! After three days of tough competition, our girls placed second overall at the New Zealand Secondary School National Touch Competition!

The girls had an awesome run in term one where they placed first overall in the Auckland Championships which got them into the National Competition held at the Papakura Bruce Pulman Park.

The team played eight games over the three days in the hot conditions and remained unbeaten on day one and two scoring 42 tries and 11 against.

In the semi-final against Westlake, the girls were up 4,2 but allowed them back into the game to draw at full time which the girls then won the drop off which got them into the final.

The girls had beaten Columba in pool play but knew it would be a tough final game! The score was 2 all at halftime until Columba scored twice to win the title.

We had a fantastic group of girls representing the Saint Kentigern from Years 9-13 who all bonded and really tied their hardest.

In the last seven years, we have been in six National Competition finals where we have managed to win 2 of them.
