Bands ‘Rock Out’ at Rockquest

June 28, 2021 at 11:47 AM

Two of our top College rock bands, Foolish Rakia and Monark, were recently chosen to represent Saint Kentigern and compete in the Smokefree Rockquest Manukau Regional Finals on June 18.

Competing with 10 of the region’s best bands, the students had a total of four weeks to write, rehearse and perform an original song. Both bands received great feedback, which resulted in Foolish Rakia’s Harry Lowe winning Best Vocal, and Monark placing third overall.

Like true musicians, both bands grabbed every opportunity to perform in the lead-up to the competition and performed in assemblies and around the school.

They are looking forward to continuing to write, rehearse, and perform for the community and upcoming rock showcases later this year.

Congratulations to both bands! Also, to staff member Geordie McCallum, who has been coaching the bands.
