Two new records at the Boys’ School Swimming Sports!

March 03, 2017 at 6:44 PM

Yesterday at the Senior School Swimming Sports, with officially the most events ever held, two records were smashed! Middle School student, Luke Gibson broke the Year 6, 25m butterfly record with a time of 17.22. Senior School student, Jack Mitchell broke the Year 8, 25m breaststroke record with a time of 18.37!

The event heats took place in the morning and the finals in the afternoon when each event and year group champion then took their place on the podium.

The Middle School swam earlier in the week and our Junior School will take their turn in the pool in Week 8. Our Junior swimmers have well developed water competency; swimming lessons and water safety are a regular feature of their weekly timetable. By the time our Junior boys get into the water they will be able to complete the full length of the pool, although, for some of them, with the aid of a flotation device such as a flutter board or noodle.

There was a lot to get through on the day, with over 100 races to be exact, and it was all done without a hitch. Once again, Sport Director, Mr Duncan Grant and his team organised a flawless event that everyone enjoyed.

The swimming talent coming through the Boys’ School is impressive and it will be great to see what the future holds for our champion swimmers.
