About the role:

Head of House – Middle School (Years 8-10)

We are currently recruiting for a Pastoral Care role an educator who is passionate about nurturing the pastoral and academic growth of our College students Year 8 - 10. As a valued member of our experienced and welcoming Pastoral Care Team, you will be responsible for the well-being of our students. It's a permanent role commencing in Term 1 2025. 

Your key responsibilities will include providing comprehensive pastoral care, leading and managing administrative tasks within the House, and fostering a supportive and respectful community.  

Key responsibilities: 

• Engender student attitudes and behaviours consistent with the aims of the Pastoral Care programme of the College:

• Tracking learning, monitoring targets and pathways for students
• Establish and maintain effective communication with the parent community
• Liaise with the Pastoral Care Committee (PCC) to ensure successful implementation of the Tutor Programme, Peer Support and other schoolwide activities
• Establish and maintain high standards of discipline, uniform, behaviour, effort, and responsibility amongst all House members
• Provide support for staff in matters of classroom learning, discipline, and behaviour

To be successful in this role, you should:  

• Have experience in Pastoral Care
• Have a passion for students and supporting their pastoral and academic needs
• Work well as part of team with other Head of Houses and members of the Pastoral Care Team
• Be an excellent communicator and listener
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and be well-organised
• Have demonstrated previous leadership or Pastoral Care experience.

We are seeking an experienced Science Laboratory Technician who wants to have a meaningful impact on student learning in science. The primary job of this role is to support our teachers in delivering physics learning in secondary school.

Key duties and responsibilities: 

• Preparation of physics resources and equipment for student laboratory work
• Management and maintenance of resources and equipment
• Take part in planning units of learning designed for students year 7-year 13
• Ensuring Health & Safety obligations are adhered to

Key skills and experiences:

• Experience in handling and maintenance of secondary school physics equipment
• A science qualification
• Current drivers license
• An understanding of the resource requirements of a secondary school science faculty
• Knowledge of the Schools Laboratory Code of Practice as well as the Health and Safety at Work Act.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a diverse and high functioning team
• A strong sense of initiative and well-developed organisational skills

About the role:
With a growing sports programme, we are seeking Expressions of Interest for sports coaches across multiple sports including Basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby junior sports teams (teams below Premier level), at the College.

As Junior coaches, you will be responsible for coaching, skill development and pastoral care riders for regular training sessions and games, with support from the Head of the Sport code and Director of Sport.

Duration:  Fixed- term contract, part time role.
 
Key skills and experiences: 

• Ensure that the team receives an effective coaching delivery focused on individual and team development for those selected for inter-school competition
• This will involve aspects such as the delivery of structured and layered weekly training sessions, with a focus on core skills, but including aspects of technical and tactical skills, depending on the age group and abilities
• Clear and concise communication to ensure the day-to-day smooth running of the team, creating a sense of belonging to both the team and the college
• Learning and developing my coaching skill sets, supported by the College and the sporting code Head
• Coach, support and development of athletes by creating a sense of belonging and inclusion.

About the role:

We are looking for a SENCO with recent experience to join our Enhanced Learning Department, dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs as well as our gifted and talented learners. In this role, you will collaborate with students, staff, and parents to ensure that learning is accessible for everyone. Additionally, you will work closely with the HOD of the Enhanced Learning Department, the Principal Nominee and NZQA to manage the efficient administration of Special Assessment Conditions within the College.  You will be required to teach a 0.2 load and will need to state teaching subjects.

Responsibilities:

• Registered NZ Teacher with a valid practising certificate.
• Assist the HOD of EL to lead and engage staff, students, and parents.
• Manage the SAC administrators and specialist teachers.
• Manage and coordinate all implementation of IEP’s
• Collaborate with curriculum leaders and teachers to support the faculties in achieving school-wide strategic goals.
• Work collaboratively with other team members, showing respect, enthusiasm, and commitment.
• Show a willingness to uphold the special character and culture of Saint Kentigern College and a commitment to the co-curricular programme.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of health and safety requirements and role model best practices.

Skills:

• Proven record of experience and success in a SENCO role.
• Ability to upskill and empower teachers to implement strategies for teaching students with diverse learning needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detailed knowledge of teaching methodologies and assessment practices.
• Ability to relate effectively to young people, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
