Recognising our 2021 NZQA Scholars

March 28, 2022 at 9:22 AM

Early in Term 1, we announced that 36 of our College students gained a total of 51 Scholarship awards across a range of subjects from the 2021 NZQA Scholarship examinations. View the full list of recipients here.

At an assembly last Friday which coincided with the celebration of the academic success of our Year 13 International Baccalaureate (IB) students, our top scholars who were successful prior to Year 13 received their NZQA Scholarship awards from Acting College Principal Mr Duncan McQueen.

Students who sit the NZQA Scholarship are assessed on their ability to demonstrate high-level critical thinking. This exam is designed to extend the very best students and is regarded as the most prestigious secondary school award in the country, offering financial rewards for those going on to full time tertiary study in New Zealand.

In the 2021 examinations, our Year 10 and Year 11 students performed exceptionally well with 14 Scholarships out of 51, including 5 Outstanding Scholarships, achieved. Year 11 student Sean Wang gained a total of 5 Scholarships, and Year 10 Nicholas Mckinlay achieved an outstanding recognition in Calculus. Ivy Wang (Year 12) came in top in New Zealand in Chinese.

Majority of students who sit the exam is usually in Year 13, therefore it is paramount that we acknowledge the success of the following Saint Kentigern students who were successful prior to the Year 13 year.

Please join us in congratulating these students on their promising achievements:
