New Zealand Individual Cycling Championships

September 06, 2016 at 2:38 PM

Our College cyclists had a fantastic weekend of racing at the New Zealand Individual Cycling Championships. The competition entailed three events, the time trial, hill climb and criterium.

Held over two days, the individual time trial took place around Point England with the gruelling hill climb, a steep ride up Mt Wellington. The criterium took place the following day at Highbrook.

Places were awarded in the individual events as well as points accrued for an overall win.

Congratulations to all those who raced in a big field of cyclists with many College riders placing in the top ten of their age groups. Six students placed in the top five overall with the highest placing going to U14 rider, Ben Connell in 2nd place.

There were 10 medals awarded to our students in the individual events with Maddy Park and Callum Walsh both winning gold in the individual time trial and criterium respectively.

Well done to all the riders and good luck for this weekend’s racing!
