Outstanding Performance at the Cycling North Island Road Championships

The North Island Cycling Championships were held in Cambridge in the first weekend of the July holiday with Saint Kentigern College athletes producing some very impressive results.
Race 1 on Day 1 saw our Premier Girls team impressively rode their way to a Gold by nearly a minute in the Team Time trial despite challenging racing conditions. The Premier and Junior Boys also gained solid results from their outstanding performance, winning silver medals. In the Road Race, our athletes scored a few more medals with Ava van Rij in 3rd position for U15 Girls, Ben Archer in 3rd position for U16 Boys, Dorothy Anderson in 1st position for U16 Girls, Jaime Cantell-Roberts in 1st position for U17 Boys, Coen Anderson in 3rd position for U20 Boys and Ruby Spring in 1st position for U20 Girls.
Heavy rain and strong winds didn’t deter our athletes from performing equally well on Day 2. In the Criterium, Dorothy Anderson had an amazing ride, breaking away solo from the beginning and staying away the whole race, successfully placing 1st in her category. Ruby Spring also placed 1st in the U20 Girls category. Both Dorothy and Ruby each achieved three Gold medals, including their Team Time trial win, for the competition.
Congratulations to our Saint Kentigern College cycling team whose hard work and competitive nature across all age groups and races resulted in strong placings for many in the competition.
