After the Covid-19 Lockdown put paid to the start of the winter sports season, our sports teams across all codes have been raring to get back on the field, court and turf!

Last week marked the first full week of competition for our Premier sports teams and by the beginning of Term 3, all grades in every sport will be back in action.

During Lockdown, many of our students worked hard to maintain their physical fitness but there’s nothing quite like training in person with your peers! On return to school, there were still some restrictions in place about physical distancing that had an impact on training, especially in relation to contact sports, but with the drop to Level 1, full training resumed with our students increasingly keen to get their competitions underway!

The late start to the season will have a knock-on effect and the pool games for each code are now scheduled to run right up to the end of Term 3, also impacting the usual Winter Tournament Week. Sadly, the Year 7 and 8 annual AIMS Games in Tauranga is a casualty of the Covid-19 situation and has already been cancelled for this year, undoubtedly a disappointment for our Year 8s in particular.

But for now, the full focus is on the Auckland competitions and our first full week out in the blue and white saw success, with some very sound wins for our Premier teams to start the season! Well done!
