Wishart Takes the Win in House Relays

12 March 2026

The poolside shifted into team mode as the House Relays brought the Girls’ School back together to close a full day of swimming. The morning had seen our fastest compete in their year group finals, and after a short break, the afternoon belonged to the Houses.

The banks of the pool reflected the identity of each House. Blue, green, yellow, and red lined the sides, with chants, music, and coordinated dress-ups creating a vibrant amphitheatre around the racing. Each relay team stepped forward not simply as individuals, but as representatives of their House, with every leg contributing to the final result.

In the water, the competition was close and hard-fought. Wishart established early momentum and maintained it across the afternoon, ultimately securing first place. Hamilton followed in second with a series of consistent performances, while Chalmers claimed third and Cargill fourth in a tightly contested field.

Alongside the formal competition, the most anticipated race of the afternoon was the staff versus student relay. The students took a commanding win, though not without some memorable efforts from staff. Isaac Williams, in particular, committed fully to the occasion, taking on his leg in a blue fluffy onesie – an admirable choice that came with considerable drag but drew plenty of support from the sidelines.

As the final races concluded, the relays captured what House events do best. A balance of competition and sisterhood, with each swimmer contributing to something beyond herself.
