Saint Kentigern 1st and 2nd at Speech Competition!

September 08, 2015 at 6:15 AM

Congratulations to Boys' School student, George Beca and Alexandra McOmish from the Girls' School who took 1st and 2nd places respectively at this morning's Year 5&6 Remuera Zone Speech Competition held at the Girls' School.

Both in Year 6, George and Alexandra had already proven their speech making capabilities, having won their respective school competitions earlier in the term. With the chance to represent Saint Kentigern against other schools in the Remuera area, the two made sure they had practised to perfection!

George spoke confidently on the subject of tolerance and challenged everyone to change the way they think about other people, to make the world a more tolerant place. He finished by quipping that he'd start with his sister

Alexandra was equally confident in her delivery about the pros and cons of the proliferation of ICT technology in today's world.

The adjudicators were looking for originality, clarity and well-structured speeches and how the audience engaged with each speaker. Well done George and Alexandra!
