Kentoris Bookends Choral Showcase

21 August 2026

The College Chapel hosted this year’s Choral Showcase, doubling as the fundraising concert for Kentoris’ trip to the Big Sing National Finale.

Kentoris opened the evening with two pieces of repertoire it had carried to the Auckland Regional – Tu es Petrus, The Word was God, as well as Tate le fia Manatua. Between Kentoris’ two appearances, the Chapel enjoyed music from the rest of our College choirs. A combined Junior Choir sang Hine e Hine, before the Junior Boys followed with the humorous Duct Tape and a number from Newsies. Musettes, performed She Sings and Blessing, Menasing brought a unique piece, Resilience, which featured an effective formation change and clapping. Their section included two further pieces Salaam! Od yavo shalom Aleinu and Storm is Passing Over. The Junior Girls Choir closed out the middle stretch with Hurry Grandma Hurry! and a Malaysian folk song set in Dikir Barat style.

Kentoris returned to close with The World is at Peace and City Called Heaven, its second recital for the National Finale, before all choirs joined for the karakia Kia tau.

One week later, Kentoris took that Nationals repertoire to the Big Sing Finale and came home with a silver award to add to their silver (Sacred Music category) and gold (19/u) awards from Singapore International Choral Festival. A fitting end to a successful choir season
