Alumni Barefoot Bowls Returns for a Second Year
Back at the St Heliers Bowling Club for a second year, the Alumni & Friends Barefoot Bowls, kicked off the 2026 calendar, bringing alumni across generations together for an afternoon of friendly competition and camaraderie on and off the green.
The afternoon delivered on all fronts. Great company, perfect weather, and a playing level only slightly below the Olympic-level banter served by the teams. Team Mulligans (Steve Gallaugher, Mike Gascoigne and Nick Reeves) had a standout day, the only trio to win all three of their matches on their way to the overall victory. Matching outfits may well have given them the edge, also securing best dressed, with Steve Gallaugher adding the corner-to-corner title to round things off.
While the competition on the green led the way, a lot of the afternoon played out in between — catching up, meeting others across the network, and plenty of sideline commentary that kept things just as lively off the green.
As events like this continue to find their place in the calendar, so too does a growing sense that staying connected and engaged matters. As the year begins, momentum continues to build, with more opportunities ahead to reconnect and stay engaged with the community.
