Year 9-10 EPro8 team place third in Auckland

12 September 2025

Our College Year 9-10 EPro8 team have secured third place in Auckland – their second highest finish ever – after successfully progressing through the regional and semi-final rounds earlier in the term. The final team comprising of students Charlie Kay, Tom Capener, Alexander O'Brien, Oliver Morgan, and Liam Winter (who filled in during the finals), worked together to surpass over ninety other teams en route to their bronze finish. Edged out only by ACG and Sacred Heart, the boys proved great mental fortitude and showed engineering ability well beyond their years, right up until the final second.

In the semi-final round, the College was represented by two teams who finished fourth equal. With only four teams progressing to the final, a ‘best of the best’ team was formed with two students from each original team.

Our Year 11-13 team also competed valiantly in their division, battling through to earn a place in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, starting behind the eight-ball in the semis meant they couldn't claw back lost time to progress further.

Year 10 student Alexander O’Brien reflects, “The experience helped us bond as a team and taught us valuable leadership and teamwork skills…. It’s a great opportunity to grow closer as friends and gain experiences that are useful for future jobs or school projects that require collaboration.

The Year 7-8 team are set to compete in October, and we look forward to their successes. Thank you to Stacy Lillywhite and Ruby Huang for managing these teams for 2025.
