Year 7s Build Confidence and Friendships at Chosen Valley
After only seven weeks at school, our Year 7s headed to Chosen Valley in Bombay for their first camp with the College. With classmates still getting to know one another and finding their place in College life, the timing of this camp proved valuable, allowing friendships to form through shared experience. Just as importantly, stepping students outside their comfort zones early helps build the confidence to embrace new opportunities throughout their time at the College.
The challenges came in all shapes and sizes: communal living, the ever-confusing Rope Maze, a Balance Island with a particularly wobbly bridge, a stomach-curling waterslide, learning to fire an arrow or paddle a kayak, tackling the demanding Confidence Course, and navigating the no-brakes trolleys. At every turn, students were stretched and encouraged to push beyond what felt comfortable.
Students gave their all in the fiercely contested multi-sport inter-House relay, narrowly won by Wishart. A highlight came in the head-to-head final, where a Year 7 team edged out a Prefect team by six seconds; the finish met with plenty of excitement.
Thank you to the many parents who joined us in the afternoons to support the outdoor activities, and to the teaching staff for their time and commitment. Most of all, we loved to see our students’ willingness to get involved and their positivity throughout the camp. There’s no doubt, these few days have set a strong foundation for the year ahead.
