Year 6s Camp at Kauaeranga
The arrival at school on Monday morning saw record levels of excitement for our Year4s ready to head to camp. They eagerly boarded the bus and upon arrival at Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp in Thames, their adventure began straight away.
The week was packed with action and challenge. Activities such as go‑karting, axe throwing, rifle shooting, rafting, and kayaking pushed the boys to build confidence, focus, and teamwork. The giant flying fox was a highlight, sending boys soaring across the valley, while slingshot paintball delivered plenty of fast‑paced strategy and excitement. With such a full schedule, there was never a dull moment.
The ultimate challenge was the iconic Pinnacles hike. Requiring perseverance and resilience, the climb saw boys, parents, and teachers supporting one another every step of the way. The reward was a stunning summit view stretching to the sea and a well‑earned lunch together. Both groups completed the hike in excellent time, with one setting a new camp record of under five hours and thirty minutes.
Evenings were spent enjoying dinner under the stars, campfires, marshmallows, and the always‑popular game of spotlight. The camp concluded with mixed‑group activities, House competitions, a giant waterslide, and a well‑deserved movie night. The ideal finish to an unforgettable experience.
