Saint Kentigern Alumni Annual Golf Day
The Saint Kentigern Alumni Annual Golf Day returned to Remuera Golf Club with a full field, perfect spring weather, and an atmosphere shaped from start to finish by alumni support. As the longest-running engagement event for the Alumni Association, the day once again brought together graduates from across the decades, including many who have supported this event year after year.
A shotgun start sent teams out across the course, where the energy stayed high from the first drive to the final scorecard. Congratulations to Team Sam Walter, Mark Hurdley, Scott Hurdley and Luke Nobilo, who took first place. Close behind were Team William Curtayne, Richard Pilley, Mike Cruickshank and Andrew Curtayne in second, followed by Team Mike Gowan, David Ambler, Darren O’Sullivan and Phil Picot in third.
We also acknowledge this year’s special prize winners for their impressive efforts:
- Longest Drive – Hole 1: Elton Sturmfels
- Longest Drive – Hole 12: Jono Vidak
- Longest Drive – Hole 16: Mark Macky
- Closest-to-Pin – Hole 3: Johnny Sinclair
- Closest-to-Pin – Hole 8: Steve Gallaugher
- Closest-to-Pin – Hole 11: Ray Jiang
- Closest-to-Pin – Hole 17: Lee Radovanovich
The 17th hole drew plenty of attention again this year, thanks to the Bayleys Mulligan, a light-hearted but meaningful way for players to support the College Rugby First XV as they prepare for their upcoming tour to Abu Dhabi. Players took full advantage of the extra shot opportunity, adding both humour and heart to the day’s momentum.
Alumni support took many forms throughout the day, and it was great to have alumnus Liam Sceats join us on the course. The interest in his High-Performance Team Experience auction item, showed the support of the alumni community as he continues to build on his INDYCAR career.
With combined fundraising efforts just shy of $20,000 across the day’s activities, this year’s event once again highlighted what makes the Alumni Golf Day special: fellowship, connection, and alumni contribution, making a tangible difference. The key outcome of the day is continued support for Field Centre, helping ensure every student has the opportunity to share in formative experiences of learning and growth beyond the classroom.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the 2025 Golf Day what it was: the players, the supporters, the sponsors, and the teams behind the scenes. Remuera Golf Club, the Alumni Golf Committee, and the Foundation Team all played a key role in shaping the day.
