In it for the Long Run

Cross country is a team sport in disguise. Chalmers claimed the house title built on contributions across almost every year group. Stefan Yin and Ari Bhargava took out the top two in Year 2, Hugo Porter and Tennyson Stein bookended the Year 5 podium, and Will Somerville added a Year 4 win. No single year group carried the house with every runner’s effort added to the tally.

Wishart produced the standout individual performances of the day, sweeping the Year 7 podium with Zach Lovell, Elliot Timmins and Wolfe Brunt, and nearly repeating the feat in Year 6 through Liam Cooney and Maxime Deperrois.

Hamilton’s best race came in Year 3, where Teddy Gemmell and Teddy Rhodes found themselves in a teddy derby for second. Cargill matched their team effort with William Matthews and Harrison Or going one-two in Year 1.

The Year 1 and 2 races were run first at Martyn Wilson Fields, before Years 3 to 8 took to the College course a week later. Across both venues, the same lesson held. Cross country rewards whoever’s in it for the long run.
