Honouring Effort and Excellence
The Boys’ School gathered to conclude the year in fine tradition at the 2025 Prizegiving. This celebration awarded a range of excellence within academia, character, leadership, and service. From our newest Junior students to our leavers, boys were affirmed not only for performance, but for the values they demonstrated in the way they contributed to school life.
In his address, Principal Peter Cassie reflected on the year’s highlights and memorable moments before leaving the boys with a clear challenge for the coming year: “Be brave, be bold, be capable, be confident.” His message encouraged each student to step forward with courage into the opportunities that lie ahead.
Head Boy Austin Watson delivered his final address with both clarity and conviction, urging the boys to remain focused and resilient in their goals: “A goal without a plan is just a thought or a wish,” he shared, encouraging persistence, and reminding students that obstacles are not reasons to stop, but opportunities to grow stronger.
Special character and service awards honoured boys who have embodied the spirit of Saint Kentigern, including Cyrus Tong, named Dux of the School, whose year was described as one marked by extraordinary consistency and excellence across every academic discipline. Linhao Chen received the Jubilee Cup for Proxime Accessit, recognised for his sustained high achievement and commitment to learning. The Ross Perry Cup for Senior Sportsman of the Year was awarded to Alby Richards, whose wide-ranging sporting success reflected both performance and determination.
Leadership was also acknowledged with Austin Watson receiving the Saint Kentigern Cup for Head Prefect, and Charlie Henderson named Deputy Head Prefect. The Years 7 and 8 Cross Country Team was celebrated as Team of the Year, and Hamilton House clinched the overall House Points Shield.
Prizegiving closed with a strong sense of momentum as the school community celebrated a year of effort, growth and shared success. We send the boys forward with confidence into the year ahead.
