Bruce House Farewells Its Year 13s

22 October 2026

Bruce House chef Shobna and her team went all out for the final formal dinner of 2026, serving a delicious two-course meal in a dining room dressed in orange. The décor embodied the warmth of the wider boarding community in attendance at the dinner.

This meal marked the last formal dinner for our Year 13 graduates, who were joined by family and friends to mark the moment. Trust Board members, the Senior Leadership Team, chaplaincy and duty staff also attended.

Director of Boarding Bridget Anitelea addressed the room first, reflecting on a year together. The word she chose to sum it up was ‘pride’. It covered the big stage moments, like the performance at House Music, and the quieter ones shared over a hot chocolate in the common rooms. Her closing slideshow brought those moments to life, a treat for guests to see and for students to remember.

Principal Damon Emtage also spoke after dinner, building on Bridget’s words. He talked about what sets boarding apart. Students live alongside a wide range of people and learn from each other, and that prepares them for what comes next. Bruce House Head Boy Misha Ryabtsev gave the final word.

The evening closed with the Head Prefect gowns changing shoulders and the 2026 awards handed out. Year after year, Bruce House remains home for students who are the lifeblood of Saint Kentigern College.
