Bruce House celebrates its graduating boarders

The annual Bruce House final formal dinner brought together all boarders, staff, and the families of our Year 13 leavers for an evening of reflection, recognition, and farewells.

Held in the familiar warmth of the Bruce House dining hall, the evening honoured the accomplishments, friendships, and shared moments that have shaped another memorable year of boarding life. Director of Boarding, Bridget Anitelea, spoke with affection for the graduating class, describing them as “a cohort of remarkable depth and resilience.” She reflected on the importance of community and individuality, saying, “You all have a unique story, and I continue to be in awe of your willingness to share those stories with us.” Bridget compared the students to marigolds, whose bright presence nurtures those around them and encourages others to flourish.

Head Boy Sam Macky delivered a moving final address, sharing a deeply personal story that captured the spirit of connection and strength at the heart of Bruce House. His message encouraged peers to remember their worth and the love that surrounds them.

Principal Damon Emtage reminded the graduates that the bonds of Bruce House are enduring. “Even if years pass before you cross paths again,” he said, “the shared experience of boarding will always be a powerful connection.”

The evening also saw the presentation of end-of-year awards recognising leadership, contribution, and community spirit, before the prefect gowns were passed to the incoming student leaders for 2026.

As families and students shared their final formal meal together, the night carried a tone of gratitude and quiet pride, marking not just an end, but a beginning. For the graduating boarders, Bruce House will always remain a home in their story, no matter where life takes them next.
