Alumni Return to Honour ANZAC Legacy

28 April 2026

In the lead-up to ANZAC Day, our College House Chapel services were marked by the presence of alumni who returned across the week to lay wreaths on behalf of the Saint Kentigern community. With one alumnus attending each service, students were given the opportunity to remember our fallen alongside those with direct connections to military service.

Those represented included Commander David Roderick (2002), Commanding Officer of No. 6 Squadron in the Royal New Zealand Navy’s Naval Aviation Force; Malcolm Barry (2002), Chief of Staff – Operational Capability Forces, Royal New Zealand Navy; and Maitland MacFarlan (1970), son of founding Principal Rev. Adam MacFarlan, who brought family medals to share, including a Military Cross awarded for active service in World War II. We also had our Head of Pipes and Drums, Andrew Lightfoot, place a wreath as a prior member of the RNZNVR (Volunteer Reserve) for 14 years.

We are grateful to those alumni who returned to honour the legacy of service and sacrifice remembered each ANZAC Day.
