A Strong Start at Bruce House

The first Bruce House Formal Dinner of the year brought the boarding community together to welcome new students and recognise leadership within the House.

Held early in Term 1, the evening saw 26 new boarders formally introduced, each presented with a Bruce House badge. The 2026 Prefect Team, led by Head Boy Misha Ryabstev and Head Girl Elsa Cai, were also acknowledged, with each Prefect sharing something of their own journey with the House.

Highlighting the evening was the presentation of the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) ‘Outstanding Contribution to National Boarding Week’ award by College Principal, Damon Emtage. This marks the first time a New Zealand school has received the accolade. We are honoured to be recognised for the energy of our boarders and the strength of the this programme.

As Mrs Anitelea reflected, the year ahead begins with a simple focus: getting to know one another and building a strong sense of community.
