A Morning for the Grandparents at Preschool

03 October 2025

Grandparents’ Day was marked on 26 September with a morning of simple pleasures at the Preschool. Club sandwiches, a touch of gardening, and performances from their grandchildren were all part of the programme for the guests of honour.

In the Foundation class, the oldest children presented a full-costumed retelling of Noah’s Ark, drawing on what they had been learning in Christian Education. Painted faces, animals parading in pairs, and a rainbow to end the storm delighted the doting audience, with the roles of God and the rainbow receiving particular smiles.

Meanwhile, the youngest room had prepared thoughtful keepsakes for their visitors, gifting handmade cards with bookmarks tucked inside. They then joined forces with their grandparents to decorate pots and plant sunflower seeds; a task relished by the real green thumbs, who helped scoop the soil and settle the seeds into place.

In the middle rooms, classic craft stations provided plenty of entertainment, with portraits and drawings sparking laughter as families compared the children’s ‘creative’ likenesses. The morning rounded off with a spread of finger food and fresh treats, a fitting end to a day that celebrated the satisfaction of simple moments shared across generations.
