Saint Kentigern College is pleased to invite applications from within the College for the role of Acting Head of Department – Senior Physical Education & Health.

This fixed-term leadership opportunity provides parental leave cover from Term 3 2026 through to the end of Term 2 2027.

This role provides leadership and oversight of senior Physical Education and Health programmes, supporting strong academic outcomes, curriculum development, and consistent teaching practice across the Faculty. The role also supports the efficient operation of a high-performing department and contributes positively to the wider life of the College.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the planning, delivery, and ongoing review of senior Physical Education and Health programmes
  • Supporting the leadership and day-to-day operation of the PE & Health Faculty in collaboration with the Head of Faculty
  • Delivering high-quality teaching and learning programmes that reflect the New Zealand Curriculum and College values
  • Supporting curriculum planning, assessment, moderation, and reporting processes
  • Supporting effective teaching practice and collaboration within the department
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment
About you:
  • Proven experience and success teaching senior Physical Education and/or Health at secondary level
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to support and inspire both students and colleagues
  • Strong curriculum knowledge and a commitment to best-practice pedagogy
  • A collaborative and professional approach, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • A commitment to the values and wider life of the College
