Saint Kentigern is seeking a Chapel Music Coordinator to sustain and strengthen the musical and spiritual life of our Chapel programme during a period of transition within the Chaplaincy and Christian Education team at our College.
This fixed-term role has been established to ensure continuity and quality of Chapel music, student leadership, and worship experiences following the planned retirement of a key Christian Education staff member. The role plays an important part in shaping worship across the College while mentoring and supporting student musicians.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Chaplaincy, the Chapel Music Coordinator will:
- Provide piano accompaniment for weekday Chapels and Sunday Night Chapels
- Prepare and arrange musical repertoire aligned with Chapel themes
- Mentor and support student musicians and worship leaders
- Coordinate rehearsals to ensure students feel confident and prepared
- Foster student-led musical contributions that enhance engagement and participation
Key responsibilities
- Provide piano accompaniment for all scheduled Chapels
- Collaborate with Chaplaincy and Christian Education staff on music selection
- Audition, mentor, and rehearse student musicians and singers
- Encourage and coordinate student-led worship items and ensembles
- Maintain shared musical resources and support smooth Chapel delivery
- Liaise with the Music Department to explore opportunities for wider student involvement
You will bring:
- Strong piano accompaniment skills and musical confidence
- Experience mentoring or working with young musicians
- An understanding of worship music in a school or faith-based context
- The ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
- A warm, calm presence and a genuine interest in developing student leadership
- Approximately 8 hours per week, during term time only
- Fixed term from Term 2 to end of Term 4, 2026, to support continuity of Chapel music and student leadership during a period of staffing transition
