Athletic Development Coach – Internship Opportunities (2 Positions)

Saint Kentigern College – Auckland

Saint Kentigern College is offering two internship opportunities for motivated and aspiring Strength & Conditioning professionals to join our Athletic Development team. These part-time internships provide invaluable hands-on coaching experience within one of New Zealand’s leading school sport environments.

About the Internship
These internships offer structured, practical experience within our Athletic Development programme.
  • 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with shifts available 6:00–8:00am or 3:30–5:30pm (some flexibility within the hours)
  • Runs from the start of the 2026 school year to the end of Term 3, 2026
  • Supervised by the Head of Athletic Development, supporting student athletes from Years 10–13
  • Includes a fixed reimbursement to support reasonable participation costs
Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with delivery of strength & conditioning programmes
  • Supervising and engaging with students during training sessions
  • Supporting periodised athletic development programmes across multiple sporting codes
  • Helping implement health and safety practices in the gym environment
  • Assisting with athlete testing, monitoring, and load management
  • Contributing to gym maintenance and equipment oversight
About You
We are seeking interns who are:
  • Currently studying in final year or have recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Sport & Exercise Science or related field
  • Passionate about strength & conditioning and athlete development
  • Strong communicators who build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Reliable, organised, approachable, and eager to learn
  • Enthusiastic about contributing to a positive, safe, and high-performance training environment
  • Experience delivering athletic development programmes or working across sporting codes is an advantage but not essential.
