We are pleased to invite applications from within Saint Kentigern for the role of Head of Faculty – Physical Education & Health.

This is a key leadership role within the Physical and Creative Learning portfolio, responsible for providing strategic and operational direction across Years 7–13. The position leads a committed team of educators to deliver innovative, high-quality programmes that foster student wellbeing, physical literacy, and lifelong engagement in health and physical activity.

The role reports to the Deputy Principal – Physical & Creative Learning, with a dotted line to the Deputy Principal – Academic to ensure curriculum coherence and alignment across the College.

 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading curriculum design and assessment practices that reflect the New Zealand Curriculum and support both NCEA and IB pathways.
  • Strengthening a well-established, high-trust faculty culture focused on continuous growth, innovation, and excellence.
  • Overseeing faculty planning, budgets, and resources to ensure effective and safe programme delivery.
  • Integrating curricular and co-curricular opportunities that promote participation, wellbeing, and character development.
  • Upholding strong health, safety, and safeguarding practices across all PE & Health contexts, including EOTC.
About you:
  • A New Zealand registered teacher with relevant tertiary qualifications in Physical Education and/or Health.
  • Demonstrated leadership within Saint Kentigern or similar environments, with a track record of fostering collaboration, innovation, and strong team culture.
  • Deep understanding of assessment frameworks (NCEA and/or IB) and proven ability to use data and reflection to strengthen learning outcomes.
  • A visible, values-driven leader who models the Saint Kentigern values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Love, and contributes positively to the wider College leadership team.
  • Committed to advancing the College’s vision for holistic education, participation, and wellbeing through the Physical and Creative Learning portfolio.
