Applications are invited from current Saint Kentigern teachers for two fixed-term Head of House opportunities within the Senior School:
  • Wilson House: 19 October 2026 to 24 September 2027
  • Chalmers House: 12 October 2026 to 8 April 2027 (Term 4, 2026 to end of Term 1, 2027)
These opportunities would suit teachers who are passionate about supporting the pastoral and academic growth of students in Years 11–13 and who bring relevant pastoral care or leadership experience.
  
As a valued member of our experienced and welcoming Pastoral Care Team, you will be responsible for supporting student wellbeing, leading the day-to-day management of your House and fostering a supportive, respectful and connected community.
  
Key responsibilities include:
  • Fostering student attitudes and behaviours consistent with the aims of the College’s Pastoral Care programme, including:
    • building a strong sense of belonging and loyalty to the House and College
    • encouraging openness and support for one another, particularly within Tutor Groups
  • Tracking student learning and monitoring individual targets and pathways
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication with parents and caregivers
  • Working with the Pastoral Care Committee to support the successful delivery of the Tutor Programme, Peer Support and other College-wide activities
  • Maintaining high standards of discipline, uniform, behaviour, effort and responsibility across the House
  • Supporting staff with matters relating to student learning, discipline and behaviour
 To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have experience in pastoral care and supporting students’ pastoral and academic needs
  • Work collaboratively with other Heads of House and members of the Pastoral Care Team
  • Be an excellent communicator and listener
  • Bring strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Have demonstrated leadership or pastoral care experience
