Singers Shine in Prestigious Competition

November 05, 2015 at 2:22 PM

Our Schools have some of the best young singing talent in country as evidenced at the prestigious New Zealand Aria Celebration of Song competition! Saint Kentigern singers came away with a number of great results, including several first placings. The competition pits the top operatic performers from around Australasia against one another in range of categories.

From the Girls’ School, Amélie James-Power had a first, two seconds and a third place and was named the overall winner of the under-13 division! Boys’ School Year 4 student Charles Adams repeated his success from 2014 by winning the best boy in the under-10 division as well as second overall, having achieved a first and a second place for two of his performances.

Also from the Girls’ School, Year 8 student Scarlett Jacques achieved two third placings in the under-16 category and Addison Peebles took home a first place and two third placings in the under-13s.

Old Collegian Manase Latu was third overall in the under-21 grade, with three second placings.

The event, in its current format, has been held annually for the past 15 years and is the largest of its kind in the country. It offers life-changing opportunities to entrants and has launched the careers of some fine young singers. It attracts a very high calibre of entrants, judges and conductors.

Congratulations to all of our competitors!
