Wishart Wins Girls’ School Year 4-8 Cross Country!

August 28, 2019 at 3:57 PM

After postponing the event last week due to weather conditions, a final break in the wet weather meant it was time for the girls in Years 4-6 to tie up their laces and dressed in their House colours, ready for the annual Cross Country. The girls were eager to get going!

With heavy winds, the course proved to be challenging for some and really put their speed and stamina to the test. All students gave it their best shot and were pleased to have the support of family and friends on the side-lines.

First to race were the Year 4 girls, where Amelia Hardie placed first, Channelle Huang was awarded second place and Queenie Lang, third. Second to race were the Year 5 girls, where Bianca Ivanova placed first, Brooke Rowntree second and Alexi Bower, third. Lastly, the Year 6s, where Emily Cornaga was first to cross the finish line followed by Amie Hiliam and Phoebe Hirst.

House points were collected throughout the afternoon which resulted in Wishart placing first, Hamilton second, Cargill third and Chalmers fourth. Well done to all the girls for a great effort and especially to those who took podium spots and will go on to compete in the Zone Cross Country.

The Year 7 and 8 girls raced in the College Cross Country earlier in the year and we now look forward to the Junior School races on September 5.
