Team Novo Nordisk is a global, all-diabetes sports team of cyclists, triathletes and runners, spearheaded by the world's first all-diabetes professional cycling team; the team is unique as in all riders have Type One Diabetes. Their mission is to inspire, educate and empower people affected by diabetes around the world.

Late last year, Year 12 student, Caleb Aoake, also a diabetic, was proud to be offered a Junior contract with Team Nova Nordisk Cycling. Caleb has a semi-professional contract with the team as a Junior rider. The Junior Team opens the pathway to the Development team and then the Professional team if selected.  

Caleb joins a selected team of twelve riders from around the world. Along with one other New Zealander, he joins riders from countries as varied as Uzbekistan, Finland, Spain and the United States. These are a group of talented young cyclists who all train and race while managing their diabetes.

Caleb leaves soon for a training and ‘talent ID’ camp in Atlanta, USA where he and the other members of the squad will be put through their paces with the view of selecting a team for the Tour de l'Abitibi in Quebec during July. If successful in this selection, members of the team could be further selected for races in Belgium and Wales later in August.
