Raising Funds for SPCA

August 30, 2016 at 10:21 AM

Cupcake Day for the SPCA is a national event that was initially initiated at the College by former student, Sophia Noble, with the baton being picked up by a Year 9 tutor group in 2012. Now in Year 13, over the last five years, the girls have raised over $9000 which has gone to support the SPCA and fight animal cruelty and rehome and protect pets in Auckland. The SPCA Auckland works with the community to encourage the humane treatment of all animals.  This means rescuing animals in need, providing medical care, and love and shelter for them at their animal village in Mangere.

To date tutor group 13XJN have made over 5000 cupcakes for the SPCA, also baking for College Open Days and the 'Alice in Wonderland' musical, to raise money. The last year saw their biggest fundraising effort yet and last week the girls presented a cheque to Nicole Peddie from the SPCA for $4500.

The Chocolate Cake Company and Murray Thwaites need a special thank you for their support with ingredients for the last 5 years - what a difference we have made together!
