College Productions Up For Awards

Each year, the Showdown Awards recognise the best thespian talent and backstage know-how in Auckland secondary school productions. There are a large number of categories covering all of the roles required to stage a top-class play or musical. The College consistently features among the nominees and winners at the awards and this year is no different. The Senior School musical ‘Spamalot’ and drama ‘Go Tell Alice in Wonderland’ have received a total of 14 nominations from the judges.

Best Female in a Supporting Role
Becky Lane (Queen of Hearts), ‘Go Tell Alice in Wonderland’
Amelia Ayres (The Doremouse), ‘Go Tell Alice in Wonderland’

Best Male in a Leading Role
Tom Henderson (The Mad Hatter), ‘Go Tell Alice in Wonderland’

The winners will be announced at the awards evening at SkyCity Theatre on November 6. There are four other awards given out at the ceremony – the People’s Choice Award, Award for Outstanding Play, Award for Outstanding Musical and Award for Best Production. Best of luck to all our nominees!
