In an exciting final of the Auckland Girls’ Hockey championships last night when our Girls Hockey 1st XI kept tough opposition from Diocesan School at bay to draw 1-1 at the close of play. With no penalty shoot-out, both teams were named joint Auckland champions.

This is the first time our girls have been in the Auckland Final, let alone bringing home the trophy, so we are very proud of their efforts! With both goals scored within the first 15 minutes, the rest of the game proved very tense. Both teams had chances to score in the second half but neither team could quite finish it off.

It was great to see so many Saint Kentigern supporters at ‘Dio’ cheering on the team on; the girls really appreciated it!

Awesome effort girls! We wish them luck as they now progress on to the Auckland SuperCity competition.
