Boys' School into Eastern Zone Hockey Finals

August 06, 2013 at 12:19 PM

The Saint Kentigern Boys’ School hockey teams enjoyed a great day of hockey at the Eastern Zone tournament recently with both teams ending up top scorers in their pool play to go through to the final rounds.

The A grade played 8 a-side games for the pool play and semi-finals with a change to 11 a-side for the finals.

The A team met arch rival Kings in the A grade final eventually losing 2-0. The game was hard fought and the Saint Kentigern boys demonstrated the level of improvement they have made since the last match against King’s School.

The B team played all games as 8 a-side. They were the top scoring team in their pool play and went onto play a close final against St Thomas.  The game was a draw at full time and again at the end of extra time but the boys were lucky to secure a win by two goals in a count back.

A big thank you to Michael Piper for giving up his time to coach the B team.
