Boys' School 1st XI Win Back the Klippel Shield

February 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM

The Boys’ School 1st Xl Cricket team scored an emphatic victory in the Klippel Shield yesterday, beating King’s School by 87 runs; possibly one of the most comprehensive wins ever in a Klippel Shield match.

Since 1974 the ‘Klippel Shield for Preparatory School Cricket’ has been contested between three strong cricket playing schools – Saint Kentigern, King’s School and Southwell School - with the Boys’ School taking stewardship of the Shield on many occasions.

Saint Kentigern batted first and made 167 for 7 off 35 overs with James Stables making a notable 90 runs. Kings were bowled all out for 80, with all our boys taking wickets. There was also superb fielding from the boys actioning three run outs.

While there were fantastic individual performances, it was the efforts from all team members working cohesively that produced the result - total commitment, energy and skill won the day! Well done boys!
