Head of House – Internal Vacancy (Parental Leave)
This is an internal vacancy open only to current employees of Saint Kentigern College.
About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a Pastoral Leader who is passionate about nurturing the pastoral and academic growth of our Middle College students. As a valued member of our experienced and welcoming Pastoral Care Team, you will be responsible for the well-being of Year 8 to 10 students in Chalmers House .
Your key responsibilities will include providing comprehensive pastoral care, leading, and managing administrative tasks within the House, and overseeing discipline.
Duration: 6-month fixed term – full time role for a parental leave cover position,
Commencing Date: Start of Term 4, 2025.
Time Allocation: 21 - (if current timetable allows)
Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities
- Engender student attitudes and behaviours consistent with the aims of the Pastoral Care programme of the College:
o an openness and supportiveness to one another, particularly within each Tutor Group
- Tracking learning, monitoring targets and pathways for students
- Establish and maintain effective communication with the parent community
- Liaise with the Pastoral Care Committee (PCC) to ensure successful implementation of the Tutor Programme, Peer Support and other schoolwide activities
- Establish and maintain high standards of discipline, uniform, behaviour, effort and responsibility amongst all House members
- Provide support for staff in matters of classroom learning, discipline and behaviour
- To be successful in this role, you should
- Have a passion for students and supporting their pastoral and academic needs
- Work well as part of team with other Head of Houses and members of the Pastoral Care Team
- Be an excellent communicator and listener
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and be well-organised
- Have demonstrated leadership experience within the College
