Saint Kentigern College is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Deputy Principal – Academic. This senior role is pivotal in shaping a rigorous, inclusive, and future-focused academic programme across Years 7–13.  The opportunity has arisen following the appointment of our current Deputy Principal to a Principalship; a reflection of the College’s strong culture of professional growth and leadership development.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal – Academic provides strategic oversight of curriculum design, academic pathways, and teaching and learning. The role leads the integration of NCEA and IB frameworks and champions innovation, coherence, and excellence across all areas of academic delivery.

We are seeking a relational, values-aligned leader who brings:
  • Proven experience in curriculum leadership and pedagogical expertise
  • Strategic insight and the ability to lead across complex systems
  • Credibility in developing and supporting high-performing academic teams
  • A strong commitment to student learning, staff growth, and inclusive practice
In this role, you will:
  • Lead curriculum design and alignment across NCEA, IB, and internal pathways
  • Drive academic strategy and innovation from Years 7–13
  • Coach and develop academic leaders, including Heads of Faculty
  • Oversee systems for planning, assessment, and academic review
  • Promote culturally responsive, evidence-informed teaching and learning
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic direction
