Deputy Principal - Physical and Creative Learning
Saint Kentigern College

Lead Holistic Education at Saint Kentigern College
Saint Kentigern College is seeking a visionary and dynamic educational leader to take on the new role of Deputy Principal – Physical and Creative Learning. This is a unique opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team at one of New Zealand’s leading independent schools and drive a bold, integrated vision that brings together physical education, health, sport, creative arts, and performing arts.About the Role:
This is not just a leadership role. It’s a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of an exciting evolution in how we shape student experience at Saint Kentigern College.
As Deputy Principal – Physical and Creative Learning, you will lead a portfolio that sits at the centre of our holistic education model: bringing together physical education, sport, health, creative arts, and performing arts into a unified, purpose-driven student journey. This role is about more than structural oversight; it’s about creating environments where students find meaning, discover their passions, and build character through movement, performance, challenge, and collaboration.
You will drive the integration of curricular and co-curricular programmes under the Physical and Creative domain, ensuring they are inclusive, engaging, and aligned to the core principles of integration, inclusion, and whole-student development. Your leadership will help ensure that creative and physical pursuits are not seen as ‘extra’, but as essential to the education of every student: nurturing resilience, leadership, and identity.
You’ll work in close partnership with our Principal and senior leaders to realise this vision, inspire staff, and lead a high-performing team across a wide ranging and vibrant domain. This is a role for a courageous and visionary leader who is committed to innovation, character development, and ensuring that every student is seen, supported, and inspired to thrive.
This is a permanent, full-time position, with a start date from Term 4, 2025. Applicants must hold a New Zealand teaching registration and have the right to work in New Zealand.
Who We’re Looking For:
You are a collaborative and future-focused educator with proven leadership experience in schools. You bring expertise in integrating teaching and co-curricular programmes, a passion for student wellbeing and character development, and the ability to lead large teams with vision and integrity. You will have a track record of leading across disciplines, developing staff, and using data to drive improvement.
Most importantly, you will embody the Saint Kentigern values and believe in the transformative potential of holistic education.
What We Offer:
We value our leaders and offer a rewarding employment package that reflects the strategic importance of this role:
- Competitive remuneration well above state scale
- Generous allocation of Management Units
- 4% employer KiwiSaver contribution
- Subsidised Southern Cross Regular Care health insurance
- Significant tuition fee discounts for enrolled children
- Additional mid-year holiday week
- Complimentary Saint Kentigern apparel for co-curricular activities
- Free on-site parking and access to world-class facilities
- Strong support for professional development and leadership growth
