Year 8 Boys Win South Eastern Zone Football

May 15, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Over the first two weeks of the term, the Year 8 Girls and Boys Football teams competed in the South Eastern Zone Football tournaments.  The tournaments involved 12 Intermediate schools from around the local area and for the first time this year the tournament took place at the College.

The girls team played well throughout the day by playing good football and managed to progress to the Final without losing a game. In the final, the girls gave their all and although they didn’t get over the line, they secured the College’s best ever result for girls at a South Eastern Zone tournament.

The Year 8 boys team played their tournament a week later, also held at the College. Throughout the day the boys showed a fantastic attitude, defended well (the team did not concede a goal in the entire tournament) and to scored goals at important times! This was evident in both the Semi final and Final where 1-0 wins were recorded. This is the first time that the College has won the Year 8 tournament and the boys can be very proud of their achievement.
