Year 5 Girls Place at Zones Swimming Finals

March 28, 2014 at 10:49 AM

Kate Frazer (2).jpgCongratulations to Girls’ School Year 5 student, Kate Frazer who won the 25m Breaststroke at the Remuera Swimming Zone Finals with a time of 23.97. Eva Colyer, Year 5, also made it into the top three placings coming in at 3rd position in the25m Backstroke on a time of 23.04.

Our Year 5 Freestyle Relay Team made up of Eva, Kate, Isabel Li, Alexandra McOmish and Kaythi Finn swam hard with great determination and placed 1st, by a good metre, in their heat. There were two heats and it was a ‘timed final’, but unfortunately we did not place as the 2nd timed heat was faster and the times were so tight.

Well done to all girls who qualified for the Finals; Kaythi Finn also went through into the 25m Breaststroke and to Eva who made it into the 50m Freestyle race. The Year 6 qualifiers, Rachel Black, Nieve Campbell, Jessica Marshall, Olivia Connolly and India Doo (who was regrettably unwell on the day), put in a stellar effort and are to be congratulated for their true sportsmanship, but it just was not to be their day.
