World Record and Gold Medal for College Cyclist!

July 25, 2016 at 9:41 AM

For the second consecutive year, a College student has won a Junior Track Cycling World Championship gold medal and set a new world record! Year 13 student, Connor Brown is part of the Kiwi men’s 4000m pursuit team which topped the podium on the second day of the world championships held in Aigle, Switzerland. After qualifying as the fastest squad on the first day, the team comprehensively beat Australia in the semi-final, with the rare sight of overlapping their perennial rivals.

In the final, they came back from being half a second behind Denmark to draw level at the midway stage. They went on to win by three seconds and in the process knocked more than a second off the world record. Connor’s efforts come on the back of then Year 12 student, Maddie Park being a part of the women’s pursuit team that won gold and broke the world record at the same event last year.

Congratulations Connor on your amazing success!
