After successful seasons in their Auckland competitions, our College Premier sports teams will be travelling to events around the country during next week’s Winter Tournament Week for the culmination of their sporting year.
RUGBY
Following on from the 1st XV’s victory in the Auckland 1A final on Saturday, the boys will now take on Whangarei Boys’ High to determine who will represent the Blues region in the National Top Four competition.

WHEN: 2:45pm this Saturday
The match will be broadcast live on Sky TV’s Rugby Channel. The winner will progress to the national finals in Rotorua next week where they will face the champions of the Chiefs, Hurricanes and South Island regions. Stay tuned for more details.
FOOTBALL
Our Boys’ and Girls’ 1st XIs were both runners-up in the Auckland league, and will now attempt to go one better at the national level. The boys are heading to Saxton Fields in Nelson where they have been grouped with Tauranga Boys’, Westlake Boys’ and St Thomas (Christchurch) in their pool.
Round 1: Saint Kentigern v St Thomas, 9am on Monday.
Round 2: Saint Kentigern v Tauranga Boys’ High, 1.30pm on Monday.
Round 3: Saint Kentigern v Westlake Boys’ High, 9am on Tuesday.
Knockout playoff matches commence on Wednesday.
The girls’ 1st XI is playing in Taupo where they are will play Nelson Girls’ College, Sacred Heart (Hamilton) and Rangitoto in their pool.
Round 1: Saint Kentigern v Sacred Heart, 8.45am on Monday.
Round 2: Saint Kentigern v Nelson Girls’, 1pm on Monday.
Round 3: Saint Kentigern v Rangitoto, 11.15am on Tuesday.
Top 16 matches commence at 1pm on Tuesday.
HOCKEY
Playing in their home city, the Premier Boys Hockey team will contest the Rankin Cup against the top 32 teams from around New Zealand. They will play against Mt Albert Grammar, King’s College and Bethlehem in pool play with the top two teams to progress.
Round 1: Saint Kentigern v Mt Albert Grammar, 12.30pm on Monday, Lloyd Elsmore Park.
Round 2: Saint Kentigern v Bethlehem, 8am on Tuesday, Lloyd Elsmore Park.
Round 3: Saint Kentigern v King’s, 3.30pm on Tuesday, Kolmar Recreation Centre, Papatoetoe.
Top 16 matches commence on Wednesday afternoon.
The Premier Girls Hockey team are vying for the Federation Cup at Tauranga Hockey Centre in Mt Maunganui and Tauranga Boys’ College. Wairarapa College, Waikato Diocesan and St Andrew’s College (Christchurch) are their pool opponents.
Round 1: Saint Kentigern v St Andrew’s, 8am on Monday at Tauranga Boys’ College.
Round 2: Saint Kentigern v Waikato Diocesan, 3.45pm on Monday, at Tauranga Hockey Centre.
Round 3: Saint Kentigern v Wairarapa, 12.30pm on Tuesday, at Tauranga Hockey Centre.
Top 16 matches commence at 1pm on Tuesday afternoon.
CYCLING
The Individual Cycling Championships are held in Auckland on September 5-6. The Time Trial and Hill Climb are held in Mt Wellington on the Saturday, followed by the Criterium in East Tamaki on the Sunday. The prizegiving is held in the Sports Centre at the College.

GOLF
Members of our Premier golf teams are competing against players from 15 other schools in the national final at the Manor Park course in Wellington.
NETBALL
The Premier netball team is competing at the Upper North Island Championships at Minogue Park in Hamilton. They are seeded second in A grade for the tournament and will face St Cuthbert’s, Alfriston and Hauraki Plains in their pool.
Round 1: Saint Kentigern v Alfriston, 10.15am on Monday.
Round 2: Saint Kentigern v Hauraki Plains, 2.15pm on Monday.
Round 3: Saint Kentigern v St Cuthbert’s, 9am on Tuesday.
Playoff matches are on Tuesday afternoon until Friday.
BASKETBALL
The Premier girls and boys Basketball teams are competing in regional tournaments in Rotorua starting on Wednesday.
Good luck to all of the nearly 200 students who are taking part and thank you to those who can get out to support them in their sporting endeavours!
