We'll miss you Jan and Denise!

May 30, 2013 at 4:07 PM

Today we say goodbye to two of our longstanding and most loyal support staff at the College. Both Jan Wilson and Denise Gordon leave Saint Kentigern today after a collective 25 years of dedicated service.

Jan joined us in 2003 with the formidable task of supporting both Suzanne Winthrop our Deputy Head and Head of Senior School and Duncan McQueen our Head of Middle School. In the last two years Jan has also supported Tracey Dykstra our Head of Teaching and Learning.

As a wholehearted supporter of the College Jan has contributed hugely to the life of the school. She has amassed no fewer than 9 Field Centre badges, has had longstanding involvement and leadership of our Equestrian teams and was very often in the crowd or on the side lines at our events.

Most recently, as well as sorting out the myriad of happenings in the lives of our College leaders Jan was Duncan McQueen’s essential ‘go to’ person for our very successful 60th Jubilee Celebrations. Her support and guidance during the project and the knowledge and connections built up over her time at the College proved to be invaluable in making sure everything happened as it should.

In Denise’s 15 years at Saint Kentigern she has had no fewer than 4 managers. Starting as Front Desk Receptionist, then Student Receptionist and more recently as our Middle School Receptionist, Denise has always been in the front line of service for our families and students. Unfailingly polite to parents and staff, she also instilled a sense of courtesy in our students always reminding them to ‘ask politely’ and say their thank yous!

With a keen interest in sport Denise channelled her energies into managing our Year 9 and Senior B Girls’ Netball Teams and our Intermediate Boys’ Tennis Team for four years, escorting the Boys to the Nationals in 2005 at which they won the Championship.

Jan and her husband Bob leave for an extended tour of Europe in mid-June and Denise will be putting her feet up finally having some time to smell the roses and watch the tennis whenever she feels like it!

The leadership team and staff of Saint Kentigern wish Jan and Denise all the very best for a happy and prosperous future.
