Success at Head of Harbour

February 13, 2017 at 1:55 PM

It was a great weekend out on the water for our College rowers taking part in the annual Head of Harbour Regatta held at Lake Pupuke. The College sent a full squad of rowers across all age ranges to compete.

The Regatta proved to be successful for the Rowing Club with a total of eight medals won in both boys’ and girl’s events.  Notable results came from the U15 Boys who produced both a silver and bronze in the Eight and Coxed Four, and the U16 Girls who also collected a silver in the Coxed Four as well as a bronze in the Eight. The U17 Boys also fought hard for their two bronze medals in the Coxed Four and Quad races.

It was the last and most importance race of the day that produced gold for our U18 Boys Eight crew.  It has been 13 years since Saint Kentigern College last won this event and it was a well-deserved win in a very competitive field!  The U18 Boys also won a bronze in the Four.

The Club is now building towards the remaining three regattas of the season with the next to be held at Karapiro in two weeks’ time.
