STEM Superhero Nanogirl Ignites Enthusiasm Among College Future Scientists

April 28, 2023 at 4:03 PM

What young person hasn’t dreamed of being a superhero at some point? The superhero life seems pretty sweet, with nature-defying powers and working for the greater good. Though maybe not the most realistic goal for someone.

It turns out, renowned science educator Nanogirl had the same dream. She realised through a little creative thinking and some simple science experiments that she could be a STEM superhero in her own right. Year 7 students at Saint Kentigern College were in for a treat when Nanogirl visited them to conduct a series of exhilarating science experiments. With the mission of inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators, the visit to the College aimed to spark an interest in science among the students before their upcoming science fair.

Despite being interrupted by a fire alarm, Nanogirl impressed the students with four seemingly nature-defying experiments using the planet’s pre-existing phenomena of fire, air, and gravity. The students were left puzzled, amazed, and laughing throughout the session, demonstrating their enthusiasm for science. With her infectious energy and dynamic approach, Nanogirl got their brains firing. She provided an excellent start to their science fair journey. We cannot wait to see what creative hypotheses are inspired by her visit when projects are displayed at the science fair in Term 3.
