Skiing Success for Boys’ School

August 28, 2017 at 2:29 PM

Congratulations to the Boys’ School Skiing teams who had a successful week at the North Island Primary and Intermediate School Snow Sports championships last week. Greeted with stunning weather on Day One, Year 8 student Jack Mitchell came away with the fastest time, winning Gold for the time trials with Year 8 student, Jack Harman winning Bronze.

Day two brought similar weather and the excitement of head to head racing. All boys were paired with an equal skier and the game was on. Race after race went on with our boys winning time and time again. This continued through the second round of races with the A team taking 30 of 32 points in one on one racing, an amazing result!

The last day was the Ski Cross, a fun race competition that had no bearing on the final outcome. The boys raced in groups of four eliminating the bottom two each time. After five sets of races Jack Mitchell again came home with the gold for our school. Too bad it wasn’t part of the  overall point total!

With the results from the first two days, the A team climbed from 7th place to 3rd place, finishing with a Bronze in the overall results. The boys displayed incredible resilience and sportsmanship along the way. Out of 70 plus teams, the B team finished in 19th place.

Congratulations to our place holders and well done to all those who competed.
