Silver Medal for College Rowers

March 25, 2013 at 8:40 AM

The College was well represented at the recent New Zealand Secondary Schools Rowing Championships held at Karapiro with four of the boys’ teams making it through the heats and repercharge to the A Finals.

Notable performances came from the U18 Boys Quad and Coxed Four; the Quad picked up a silver medal in their final and the U18 Four finished 4th in the Springbok Shield.

The U17 Four was in with a good chance in their A final but faded in the last stages of the race to finish 5th. The U18 Eight made it into the A final this year. As an event largely dominated by all boys’ schools, this is always a highly contested race.  Saint Kentigern started well to lead after 500m only to find the pace too much to hold, falling back to register a 7th place overall.

We congratulate all our teams for their efforts in a huge week of competition for rowing schools.

Notable results were in the following events:

U18 Boys Quad achieved silver medal and in the U18 Boys’ Four achieved 4th place
Team: Liam Church, Cody Wheeler, Harry Barker, Richard Power and Raffaella Weber (Cox)

U17 Boys Four achieved 5th place in A Final
Harry Barker, Ayden Lamont, Matt Corliss, Andrew Mac and Raffaella Weber (Cox)

U18 Boys Eight achieved 7th place in Maadi Cup Final
Andrew Mac, Ayden Lamont, Liam Church, Cody Wheeler, Richard Power, Harry Barker, Matt Corliss, Jake Latham and Raffaella Weber (Cox)
