School Sports Exchange with Huntley

June 09, 2017 at 4:07 PM

Over the last two days, the Boys’ and Girls’ Schools have been pleased to welcome students from Huntley School, a small Independent Preparatory School  for boys and girls in Years 3-8. Located in Marton, near Palmerston North, Huntley School was established in 1896 and is New Zealand's oldest and largest preparatory boarding school.

Our visitors were billeted with the Saint Kentigern community and over the last couple of days have had the opportunity to experience the sights of Auckland City. This morning, on their final day in Auckland, the day dawned bright and crisp, creating fantastic conditions for a winter sport exchange - for players and spectators alike!

All games ran concurrently with a combined Girls’ School/College netball team playing the Huntley girls at the Auckland Netball Centre, while the boys’ 1st rugby, hockey and football teams played at the Boys’ School.

Whilst Marton put up a strong fight, especially in the hockey game, our Saint Kentigern teams proved too strong with the netball girls winning 50-12, and the boys winning the rugby 91-0, the hockey 6-2 and the football 14-0.

Well done to all the teams taking part this morning. Following a shared lunch, the boys and girls from Marton headed to the airport. We hope they enjoyed their time in Auckland and we wish them well as they travel home.
