Driving into the main College carpark you may have noticed something new that has popped up beside the parking attendant’s office over the last week.
Now occupying a space on the grass field is a sign acknowledging Saint Kentigern’s support for Students Against Dangerous Driving (SADD). The sign is a reminder to all our student drivers of the College’s zero tolerance of getting behind the wheel and driving dangerously.
The SADD Council at the College has been a huge success and they are proud of what they have accomplished. After attending multiple events and seeing the effects and importance of safe driving, the Council chose to change their focus from drink driving to driving safely in general.
With this new focus they have ran, encouraged and promoted multiple fundraisers to encourage this. BBQ’s were the main fundraiser, with all money raised used to purchase promotional signs, posters and fund Council members to attend the SADD Conference in Napier.
The Council feels that their goals have been met and received positively by the students, and that they have achieved their objective of changing the way that our students drive.
